  • Published on

With this year’s winter sports season just around the corner, here at ERGO we’re beginning with a bang at the Ski and Snowboard Show 2016. Take a look at what we’ll be getting up to here:

The Ski and Snowboard Show 2016 – Your gateway to the mountains!

Since its conception, 43 years ago, The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Show has stood as the pinnacle of winter-sports events in the UK.

From its humble beginnings it has grown into an alpine festival bringing over 200 snow-sports brands, industry experts, professional athletes, entertainment and thousands of enthusiasts together for a celebration of all things winter-sport.

As a specialist provider of winter sports and seasonnaire insurance who cover everyone from fresh-faced beginners to windswept pros, the ERGO crew will be attending together with some big names, fantastic competitions, and more give-aways than you can shake a snow shovel at!

When does the show kick off?

The show opens on Thursday 27th October and runs until Sunday 30th October. That means four jam packed days of Winter Sport Fun in one epic location.

As the show is taking place during October Half Term this year, it means fun for the whole family and the line-up has been specially designed to appeal to all ages meaning that no one has to miss out.

Where can I find it?

In true snow-sports style, only the gnarliest venues are capable of holding such an event and this year Battersea Evolution plays host to the ski and snowboard show exhibition.

Located in the heart of London’s stunning Battersea Park, Battersea Evolution is easily accessed by both public transport and car which ensures that everyone can find their way down.

For more information about the show including ticket prices, venue information and event timings head to: http://london.skiandsnowboard.co.uk/show-info

Where we’ll be shredding

As we like to get close to the powder, we’ll be hanging at The Rail Jams University Downtown Throwdown slope to catch all of the shredding action.

Here we’ll have our main Seasonaire and ERGO Winter Sports Insurance stand, but we’ll also have a base in the main exhibition hall over at stall 800.

Be sure to drop by to hear about the latest offers from ERV, grab some goodies, and enter one of our competitions to be in with a chance of winning some coveted ERGO stash!

Who we are bringing with us

Because even the most experienced mountain dwellers can get lonely on the slopes, we’ve assembled a host of friends to hang with, and we’re sure you’ll agree, they make quite a crew:

Millie Wilkinson

14-year-old Millie Wilkinson is not your average teenager; in fact, she is a British Slopestyle Champion and a hugely talented Freestyle skier!

Having begun skiing at just 4 years old, Millie’s career has already been packed with success and awards, and she doesn’t show any signs of letting up anytime soon.

As an ERGO sponsored skier, Millie will be joining ERGO at the ski show to teach us some of her signature moves and showcase her snow-shredding talent.

If you can’t wait until then to hear from Millie, check out her website at http://www.milliewilkinson.com/Millie_Wilkinson/Home.html, and don’t forget to enter the code “Millie15” for a 15% discount on your winter sports cover courtesy of ERV!

Katie and Molly Summerhayes

The Summerhayes sisters are fast becoming a permanent feature of British Skiing and a national institution in their own right.

With both sisters competing as part of the British Park and Pipe Ski Squad, they are set to take the slopes by storm.

Having come second in the World Championships held at Kreischberg, Austria to take a Silver medal in 2015, Katie is targeting more medals at the X Games and the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Similarly, younger sister Molly who came 1st in the Junior World Championships in Italy in 2015, is also looking to build upon her success and hit up the big stages with some dazzling runs.

We look forward to seeing both girls at the Ski Show and hear about their shredding plans for the upcoming season!

Graham Bell

Yes you heard right, Graham Bell himself will be joining us at this year’s Ski and Snowboard show!

The five time Olympian, sporting enthusiast, and TV personality will no doubt be one of the stars of the Ski show, and as one of the finest downhill skiers of all time, we are sure he will have a few words of wisdom for the upcoming season.

Graham has already had an illustrious career on the snow, but is now bidding to become the fastest man EVER on skis.

Yes indeed, he is attempting to smash the current 160mph Guinness World Record for speed skiing with the aid of an aerodynamic suit propelled by twin micro jets, and a lot of courage!

Check out this video of him training with his partners Jaguar in the Austrian Alps, or head over to another one of our blogs for more information about Graham’s World Record bid.

Ross Welch

Another of our gifted ERGO Sponsored pro-skiers, Ross Welch lives, breathes, and sleeps skiing.

As owner and founder of Perspective Studios, a UK based film production company specialising in Action Sports, and the founder of Gap Nation Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Competition, Ross is a busy man!

Not to mention being an incredibly talented skier in his own right with highlights including a second place at the O’neil Shoreditch Showdown in 2013, Ross is passionate about promoting and encouraging others to get involved in his sport.

Check out his website at http://www.perspectivestudios.co.uk/ to see what he has been up to recently, and don’t forget to pop down to Battersea to catch up with Ross and all our other athletes.

What we’re up to during the show

With an International Pro-Rider competition, live music, world beers, alpine food, an ice rink, the Altitude Comedy Festival, and of course all the latest deals on all things ski and snowboard, it’s going to be a busy few days in London.

Nevertheless, we like to do our own thing as well so we will be running a variety of competitions and free give-aways, holding our legendary snowball throwing event, chilling with some stars of the slopes, and, as always, providing expert advice about all things insurance and winter sports.

If that isn’t enough to wet your appetite, check out the full line up of all the other exciting events kicking off throughout the exhibition:

We’ll see you in Battersea!
