Our story began in 1907, in Budapest, with the founding of Europäische Güter- und Reisegepäckversicherung AG. It was the first specialist travel insurance company in Europe. Back then, the focus was on protecting travellers’ luggage and belongings. That simple idea became the foundation of modern travel insurance.
Over time, the company evolved into ERV. It later joined the ERGO Group, one of Europe’s leading insurance organisations. Today, ERGO is backed by the financial strength of Munich Re.
